Guns, helicopters, corpses, and an action hero. A perfect ingredient for a perfect action film.
The plots of action movie finish in a line. Let's say, ''Enemies kidnap president, and the hero rescues him''. Or say, ''Drugs trafficking in town; a cop needed''. Or maybe, ''A girl in danger, save her''.
With lots of bullets, battles and blasts, an action movie is created. Some of them take you for a ride of your life. The excitement and suspense involved makes your adrenaline pump, and your veins explode.
The sounds, the glitz and the sight of an action movie remains in your mind for a long time. And the action heroes take you by their side for a thrilling 90-minutes journey.
I have my list of my favourite 5 action movies. These movies got me wild. I am a true fan of action movies, and I am going to tell you why.
Here's the countdown:
5) The Matrix
Imagine a world where you don't have an identity. You are not yourself, and you are not what you want to be. You are slaves of people and you can't break free. There are invisible bonds, tension and confusions, which follow you right up to your death. Have you thought of such a world yet?
This world is the same one in which you are living right now. Everything you see is an illusion. They are things not created by you. You cannot empower them, nor can you resist them. You don't want them, but they are always there, right before you.
The Matrix is a movie that brings the true world before you. Keanu Reeves, Lawrence Fishburne and Tori Ann Mos star in this super hit action movie. There is lots of special effects, action and drama in this movie. With bullets flying from all directions and battles of the titans, The Matrix certainly rules.
4) Terminator - II Judgement Day
45 years from now, the Earth will be ruled by machines. Humans will become extinct and the world will no longer be ours. We all will face a painful death, with fire burning us and dissolving us in the blood of others. This is what we call The Judgement Day.
James Cameron brings to us a sequel of Terminator. This time Arnie is here to save John Connor from the clutches of an another Terminator.
The mission is accomplished and the future is safe.
Arnold Schawrzenegger and Linda Hamilton are in the lead cast. The direction was absolutely superb and it was a kickstart for James Cameron to make a big movie like Titanic later in his career.
The movie is filled with stunts and battles between man and machine. A must see for the action buffs.
3) Rambo series
A one man army up against thousands of enemies is the theme of the Rambo series. The first three parts are the better ones.
The first one was called First Blood. In this one Sylvester Stallone faces the brutality of the army as he his charged with false claims. But he comes out of it and becomes a tough fighting machine called Rambo.
In the next sequel, Rambo is in China to complete a mission of rescuing some soldiers. In the third sequel, Rambo has to rescue his general. In all the sequels, Rambo lives up to the expectations.
Rambo is still regarded as the best action movie. Now they are planning to introduce a sequel of Rambo where Sly has to rescue some prisoners in Afghanistan.
Osama, you better watch out for this guy!
2) Black Hawk Down
This is the latest movie from the director Ridley Scott who gave us an another classic movie, The Gladiator.
The movie is based upon the urban war fought between the US army and the Somalian people. The battles were fought on the street amidst towns. The US army took the help of fighter-helicopters, called Black Hawks. These helicopters were easier to manouveur in an urban setting.
This was a war between heavily armed US army, and the poor people of Somalia who just have traditional, hand-made guns. Then too, the US army received a setback in this war. Their helicopters were brought down, and their men were tortured.
The US army was there for peace-keeping. But their noble acts back-fired them badly. This movie potrays the patriotism of the US soldiers and their endeavours on the the battlefield.
It is a great movie, which is also critically acclaimed.
1) Rumble In The Bronx
I can watch this movie for any number of times.
Jackie Chan acts and directs this thrilling movie. Many forget the name of Jackie Chan when they speak of action movies. Jackie Chan's movies are always unique in style with beautifully choreographed fight scenes and self-performed stunts by Jackie Chan himself.
In this movie, Jackie Chan comes to US and stays in the most notorious place in Downtown New York called Bronx. Here he encounters small-time criminals to hardline gangsters. He also meets the love of his life. He also picks up a bag of smuggled diamonds. Also, his girlfriend's brother is kidnapped. This all is a nice setting for great action sequences.
Jackie Chan gives us a marvellous movie. Even his Rush Hour is highly watchable. Also the sequel is great.
So, watch this movie and tell me.
