The 5 Best Hollywood Action Movies

  1. Terminator-2: Judgment Day:- Of all the movies that I have watched, this one takes the cake in action. The looks of Arnold when he whips out his gun from a box, the motorcycle versus truck chase, and I can go on and on. Undoubtedly the best Action movie I have seen.

2) Die Hard:- The first Die Hard was the best. Actually the movie was great because the baddies looked like baddies. The idea of getting a truck into a building and taking it over was too much. The looks of the gang speaking German - was real tough. And in between you had high drama, suspense, etc. Great stuff.

3) Hero:- I am not sure if it is a Hollywood movie or not - but by far one of the greatest martial arts movies I have seen. The main thing I liked about this movie is the settings, the art form mixed with martial arts and the story within a story. There were twists and turns in the tale. The picturisation was the finest I have ever seen. Jet Li's fight with Sky was fantastic.

4) Gladiator:- This was just plain raw stuff. A small glimpse of the way the world was at one time in Italy. It really fires up our imagination. If you have ever read ancient books, you will know what I mean. Russell Crowe did full justice to the role.

5) The Matrix:- This was only because the style of fighting was totally different. A completely fast and new one - not to be compared to any of the earlier fighting sequences.

And I could go on and on. This is not to mention that there could have been many others also in this list - it is very tough to try to choose only 5. At least 25 would have been a little more easier. Enter the Dragon pushed all of us at one time to do exercises and learn Karate, and this was followed by 36 Chambers of Shaolin. I personally have never liked Nicholas Cage - I find him too sissy. For that matter I am not fond of Bruce Willis - but the movie Die Hard made it because of the bad guys and not because of him. Same holds for actors like Reeves, Travolta, Will Smith, etc. Nothing raw or brutal about them. Perhaps they have gone on to become action heros as carved out by the Directors. The Rambo series and Rocky series was great. So was Desperado. The John Woo movies are timeless. Untouchables was a great one. Apologies if my thoughts do not match with others. Then of course there are movies by Jackie Chan, Van Damme, Steven Seagal, The Transporter Series, and so on.
