I read a review on five best ghazals of Jagjit Singh and got inspired to write this review as I did not find the finest ghazals by Jagjit Singh in that review.

1.Badla na apne aap ko jo the wahi rahe, milte rahe sabhi se magar ajnabi rahe-

This ghazal brings out nature of a human being which remains as it is no matter what world wants him or her to be.These days people try and enforce one's nature, likes, dislikes on each other ignoring the fact that people will remain how they are.The most tragic moment comes when a good person has to do things he or she doesn't want to do but do just to survive in this cruel world. But this situation truly makes person stranger in this wide large world.

2.Zindagi se badi saza hi nahin, aur kya jurm hai pata bhi nahin.

sach khate ya badhe to sach na rahe, jhooth ki koi inteha hi nahin.

This is a heart rending ghazal by Jagjit Singh which truly reflects the mental state of a person who undergoes pain and grief when betrayed by this world by people who are neck deep in back biting and betrayal and prove innocent people to be at fault.

3.Tum jo itna muskura rahe ho, kya gham hai jisko chupa rahe ho.

rekhaon ka khel hai yeh mukaddar, rekhaon se maat kha rahe ho.

Another heart wrenching ghazal by Jagjit Singh which truly reflects the defense mechanism of a person trying to show'everything is fine'by his or her smile and experiencing the grief within. This shows how hollow this world is, what glitters is not gold.Smile doesn't always reflect the happiness within, it sometime mocks this world which demands a superficial sense of well being and doesn't bother if you are rotting inside. The ghazal also tries to sooth a disturbed person by telling him /her importance of'palmistry'.Palm lines sometimes can'defeat' you in life no matter what.

4.Ek brahman ne kaha hai ki yeh saal accha hai.

This is a very different ghazal by Jagjit Singh, Normally we listen a sad or a romantic ghazal from him, but this has nothing to do with it.It is a hopeful ghazal about the unease and unrest caused by riots when innocent kids become orphans and thousands homeless.

5.Koi chaudwayin raat ka chand bankar tumhare tassavur mein aaya to hoga,

kisi se to tumne kari hogi mohabbat .

Its a romantic ghazal reflecting innermost emotions of a lover.

Generally Jagjit Singh's ghazals are penned by noted lyricists and they are already very good lyrics wise, but when Jagjit Singh's voice touches these words, it creates magic, Expressionwise its excellent which makes these ghazals an all time classics.

There are loads and loads of ghazals by Jagjit Singh to be written here, but there is limit constraint to it to name only five.

I will add two more to this list.Tere bare mein jab socha nahi tha, main tanha tha magar itna nahi tha.another amazing ghazal by the inimitable Jagjit Singh and'Apni marzi se kahan apne safar ke hum hain, rukh hawaon ka jidhar ka hai udhar ke hum hain'.very true.
