Good city diesel car. Review on Fiat Palio Diesel

Have a palio diesel car (EL) model 2003. this has only A/C and power steering as interior additional facilities.nice part of car: diesel engine capacity is over 1900 cc which gives enormous power and has capacity to drive at higher gear even at lower speeds. this gives lot of comfort in traffic (busy roads). the vehicle is very conveninet to drive on higher gradients due to its shear power. the body is well built and has very (when compared with smaller and mid size cars available in india) highe crash resistance capacity; it has hard outer shell (good metal).

It has low center of gravity there by chances of vehicle being toppled is very low at higher speeds. braking system is pretty decent as the vehicle stops in 5 - 8 mts even at about 90 kmph speed. the engine all in all is awesome as the noice level and the pick up are quite different from the rest. fiat is considered as one of three (3) finest and best diesel enignes manufacturers in the world.

I agree with it. I know diesel engines a bit - I drive my sister's ambassador whenever I go to my hometown and also cousins indica in hyderabad. fiat machine cannot be compared with them as it will be only an insult to fiat machine.reliability - strong body but if doors inner pads are opened for few times, the doors are bound to make noice. comfort - pretty good. to me, better than swift interior comforts; may be getz has more interior space but gets compensated with the difference in inside plastics. superior to ford in the rear seat comforts though ford has comfortable front seating; to say - it has adequate inside space.looks: like a 1980 maruti 800 - the side view (from a distance)- isnt it: however, the front looks are mere perfect european. rear, yeah it needs improvement - it could have been more curvelinear - the way maruti has evolved in managing the notchbacks rear in the last 10 years.serious negatives:fuel injection pump (FIP) - supposedly it has italian kit in FIP which throws errors if the purity of diesel is not as per set norms (these are italian norms).

Unfortunately in our country we may not get that quality all the time not because we dont produce but because some of our friends in fuel stations are greedy of money and dilute diesel with ??. these errors result in keeping the FIP indicator glowing for longer time once the car is put on. so one has to wait for considerable time to see that the light is off and start the vehicle else car will not accelerate properlymaintenance is quite expensive - shopkeepers bully that the parts are imported and price it quite highly.

Comparatively, there are few sellers of this who generally quitely buy them and hence the spares guys raj (ruling) is going on. culture at dealer station is more like traditional companies culture. they take it as a favour to serve the customer. the pricing is quite high. this needs to addressed for fiat to really compete with others in fast growing indian market.it has quite complicated electrical system. I tried to get the central locking done but am repenting now. the guy though sounded professional, work was pathetic and he attributed to complex electrical system in palio.

This is in a way good that this car is very strong and untouchable in terms of maintenance but for machanics, a night mareit is not advisable to give the car outside for repair as very few people have touched the fiat palio car and those who touched have limited experience in handling the fiat. this means we have to rely only those few dealers that are available.all in all, when compared with mid-size cars, the Fiat Palio diesel has similar comforts; same maintenance expenses; stronger (safe and reliable) than many; more convenient to drive in cities; low esteem in society; more fuel efficient; fiat diesel technology (this is a cut above)moulimouli9@gmail.com
