FELUDA

The book is a short mystery of a type; it does keep the reader involved in the happenings right from the first, to the last page. The usage of wit and humor at places is quite interesting.

I would like to recommend this series for those interested in reading books only for a short while, and those like me, who do not have a patience to read through the entire length of a long book. Once started, do not leave this book until you have finished. Losing in touch with it will help you forget about some of the characters and may confuse you.

Feluda Mitter or Felu, as he is fondly called, is a detective. He also translates things from other languages in his spare time. Experience in his field has taught him one thing- to keep his calm in the most difficult situations. Nobody can ever know what’s going in his mind. Nobody, except himself. When situations are favorable, he may do something unexpected. At times of crises, he may help you even without being present. Feluda is a mastermind behind all the happenings. He thinks that whenever he went to a new place, he should at least know the history of the place. Moreover, he doesn’t reveal his occupation to strangers.

SATYAJIT RAY

Indian filmmaker, known throughout the world for his evocative depictions of Indian life. Born in Calcutta, Bengal, and educated at the university of Calcutta and at Visva-Bharati University, he began his career as an illustrator, becoming art director for an advertising agency. In 1947, he helped found Calcutta film society. In the early 1950’s he began raising money to finance the motion pictures ‘Pather Panchali’, to be filmed with a nonprofessional cast in village surroundings. Completed in 1955 and honored at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival, Pather Panchali established Ray’s career as a film director. It was the first at a trilogy, completed by Aparajito and Apur Sansar that chronicled the growing up of the youth Apu and his family’s move to the city from traditional rural society. His later films include Devi, Days and Nights in the Forest, Distant Thunder, The Chess Player, The Home and the World, and Agantuk. In March 1992, shortly before his death, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science honored him for a lifetime achievements in cinema.
