It was wonderful to read Feluda. I wanted to see a lot of Feluda movies after the national Award winner Shonar Kella and Jai Baba Felunath but my ignorance of the bengali script was a hindrance. One of my friends gifted me the Feluda books in english by Penguin, translated by Gopa Majumdar, and there's nothing that has pleased me more.
Ray's writing is just as riveting as his movies. With such ease he has entertained critics, children and adults. No sex, very low violence, yet you get such wonderful detective stories. Cannot believe the same person has directed such difficult movies like Charulata and Pather Panchali and written Feluda.
From Topshe to lalmohon babu, a.k.a jataytu, his characters in Feluda stories are remarkable. Thru Feluda one can see the depth of Ray's knowledge on topics. Detailed description from landscapes of different places to pyramids to history shows what hardwork and knowledge went into the Feluda stories and enthralled readers. I wish there were more because once you are thru with the last story you are left gaping for more. There will never be a parallel to this writer and this character in literature.
