Books, books and more books...my childhood memories are full of books...and I still feel that, children should have a childhood surrounded with books; not only textbooks but other books like novels, comics
etc which help them to unwind...
My childhood books were from the school library...and it had its own charm...rushing in the library to get the front seat, keeping pin drop silence, cleverly dealing with friends on who would get the next edition of Enid Blyton etc...
Ruskin Bond,Famous Five, Bedtime stories, Archies, Nancy Drew were some of the many which I read in my childhood...they were simple and easy to understand...mysteries were so difficult( at that time:) ) and you truly felt that Nancy Drew was doing a tremendous job solving all those mysteries...
The books which the generation of today is reading surprises me...Harry potter is a debatable one... I would be hurting the sentiments of many when I say this...many of the Indian books are much more interesting than this character...and it is doing no good if children keep reading it and believing in it too..I havent read any Harry Potter and I am still alive and kicking...
Even today, I would love to read a Nancy Drew or a Ruskin Bond...it doesnt make you jump into a world which is make believe...you are stiill a child reading it...in all your innocence...
Happy Reading !!!
