Pros:
Excellent stories with wonderful meanings
Cons:
None

The memories are dear, as a young girl in elementary school my teachers often read wonderful stories to the class. The stories always had such important meaningful lessons to them. Whether the lessons

were woes to stay away from strangers, a learned adventure as it related to an experience, the woes of going to places were we didn’t belong or just understanding our self-worth of beauty, braveness, and wits. I’ve gathered five of the most beloved children’s books that have left a positive effect on my childhood. To my dear and beloved teachers who played an important role in building social character, and developement in me and hundreds of children in the classroom; thanks for the love and endurance you had when reading these delightful, and most treasured stories to us.

Curious George Goes to the Hospital
written and created by Margret and H.A.Rey’s ISBN: O395720265 In this story a cute little monkey gets his first visit to the hospital after swallowing a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. While in the hospital George learns many things about the hospital, he learns of the doctor’s instruments, and the daily events that take place in the hospital. One day George takes a ride in a wheel chair and finds himself in a zany dilemma. The ending to this story will touch your heart. Clearly the author writes this book for children facing an expected stay at the hospital.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears
written by David Mcphail ISBN: 0590481177 in this story a family of bears decide to go for a walk in the woods. They’ve cooked their porridge, and take the walk while the hot porridge is cooling off. Well, while this family of bears are on their walk a little girl goes to the home of the bears, and eats a sample of the porridge. She later sits the chair of each bear, and her final adventure comes to an end when she falls asleep in the bed of the baby bear. The author does an excellent job with this delightful story as she conveys her message of the woes of entering places where we just don’t belong.

The Three Little Pigs
written by Harriet Ziefert ISBN: 0140376240. This funny little story is about three pigs who built their own homes. One pig has built his house of sticks, the other has built his house of straw, and the third pig has built his house of bricks. Well, the story goes on when the pigs meet a big bad wolf who warn them of his intentions to blow their houses down, and eat them. He blows the houses down that’s made of straw, and sticks. But he’s unsuccessful when he attempts to blow down the house of bricks. The author wonderfully directs our attention to wisdom and wits in this story.

Hansel and Gretal
written by Rita Lesser ISBN: 1569875189 in this story the author warns children of the dangers of trusting strangers. In this story two children go for a walk in the woods they stumble upon a house made of candy, and cookies. The children became tempted and go to the house and began eating the goodies on the house. A kind looking old woman invites them in her home when the children enter the house they discover that this old woman is a witch who tricks them with the intention of eating them.  I won’t tell the ending to this story, but its social message to young children is very clear.

The Ugly Ducking
written by James Still ISBN:0876023391 in this story the author teaches young children the importance of self-worth when it comes to beauty. In this story a duck is an out cast to the other ducks until one day he meets a swaine who tells him to look at himself in the water. Well, things brighten up for this sad , and lonely duck when he looks at himself in the water and discover how beautiful he really is, he’s discovered he’s a beautiful swaine. And there you have it folks as you can see these delightful children’s stories have very strong messages to them. They are wonderfully written stories that serve as perfect educational tools that build character in young children. As for reading the text in these books are simple, and easy to read. Children at ages 4 to 8 will enjoy these books.

Thanks for reading my review.
