’’Fabmart - India’s Finest Virtual Supermarket’’ is one of the best and most focused online shopping site which caters to the Indian markets.

What started out with books and music has now grown considerably to include toys, jewelry, computers and even groceries. Everything at the click of a button.

This Bangalore based company was launched in September 1999 and I started using it somewhere in July 2000. Since then I have made dozzens of purchases from here and found the site to be quite a viable option when it comes to shopping. I find it very convenient to purchase the latest best seller of my favourite author or the latest CD by Britney Spears or that special something for a friend’s Birthday from this site.

Delivery is normally within a week (the site says 3 days but its more like 5-6 days usually). Delivery charges are Rs 5 per item and in the case of CD-ROMs and jewelry can go as high as Rs 25 - Rs 30 as well but its worth it since the site normally has discounts as well as reward points which cover up for the delivery cost and still turn out to be cheaper.

The site has lots of interesting offers running at different times and really try and make shopping fun. The live customer service is helpful but a little slow, take for instance when a certain parcel of mine got unduly delayed and I used the live chat to ask them why, they said they’d get back to me with the reason. My parcel did finally reach me 4 days later, and they promptly sent me a mail on the next day telling me that the parcel had been delivery to me at such date/time and received by so and so person... like thats helpful! What I really wanted to know was why it was not at my place 4 days back. I did manage to find out what the reason was by calling up the courier company itself and checking it out, they told me that a certain paper I needed to sign saying I had received the goods in proper condition hadn’t been dispatched with the parcel so they were waiting for that before they would send the parcel.

Anyways moral of the story being this is a great site which is easy to navigate and buy stuff from and have good products, but don’t use it to do any last minute shopping or unless you are a patient person.
