We booked a hotel on Expedia 4 months in advance. We called the hotel to confirm the reservation today prior to traveling and they had no record of our reservation. Called Expedia and the automated confirmation said we were all set. Once we were able to talk to a live person, she said that the hotel lost the reservation ( it wasnt our fault) and offered to book us at a more expensive hotel at no cost to us. We would receive a confirmation e-mail. 5 hours later ,no confirmation e-mail. Another call to Expedia, another helpful rep (it s not MY fault), and a one hour wait to talk to the manager, who said that the transfer to the other hotel never took place. Two phone calls back from the manager later, we got a "sorry" and an offer of a $100 voucher if we register on Expedias site. At one point during the 3 hour phone ordeal, I spoke to a helpful rep named "Pisces". I dont know about you, but it makes me wary when I deal with companies whose reps use fake names.
Bottom line, we cut our losses, made sure we received a cancellation confirmation before we got off of the phone with the manager, and set about to book a hotel ourselves. When we went on-line, whaddya know? Our ORIGINAL hotel had rooms available at about the same price we were paying Expedia.
