This is quite possibly one of the best books ever written, it provides a broad look at the continuing Arab-Israeli conflict in as non-prejudiced a way as can be concievably possible in a book written entirly about the Jewish people.
The characters are realistic, feeling people with personality, strengths and even flaws. Although at times, the book may become slightly slow and long-winded, for the most part it’s intense, with just the right mixture of action and drama. This book can also give readers insights into the mind of the Jewish Government and their military strategy in putting down the Arab insurrection, and shows why such tactics are considered to be neccesary. And if you like this book, try the Haj, which is a book set in the same time period, but focuses mostly on an Arab point of view of this situation and has many parralels with Exodus. I’d also recomend reading Mila 18, which gives you a better look at why the Jews felt it neccesary to leave the countries from which they came.
