Plenty of luggage lost in Africa. UK doesn't chase it.
Ethiopian are useless at caring for travellers luggage that is "lost" in Africa.
There are no security systems in place to prevent bags being stolen once you're into Africa.Offshore workers have lost dozens of bags travelling through Addis to Congo.Airline won't do anything. They expect bags to be "lost " but don't tell passengers that.
Instead, once they're lost (probably stolen by the way), it's the standard "put in a claim with all the original paperwork....", which personally stresses me further when arguing with insurance companies.
Ethiopian just don't get that most people would actually prefer to have their luggage when they arrive at their destination! It's incredible!
Insisting that luggage is traced results in calls not being returned and e-mails ignored. In future, I'll wait for a space with Air France as would most of my colleagues. If you're willing to risk your luggage though, you should get to where you're going yourself!
Addis airport is more comfortable than some of the West African airports if you're unfortunate enough to have to transit.
That's it. Be lucky.
