I have always been a big fan of R.K Narayan's works for his originality, sincerity and raw sense of humour.I picked this book thinking I would expecting the same, but I must say I was a little disappointed.
This book is not very RKN, the very concept of an average english teacher making contact with his dead wife was not very digestable for me.I have always read his work to be natural but as I see something supernatural here, i wasnt very happy.
Nevertheless, the book retains all other RKN's qualities like the simplicity of the language, the story telling and ofcourse my favourite imaginary place - town malgudi. This is the first time I feel let down by RKN.I have thorughly enjoyed his works- the guide, swami and friends, the financial expert and the bachelor of arts.I am still his fan and have recently picked up "the man-eater of malgudi".But this book, i am sorry to say disappointed me.
