A love story like no other between a Hungarian map maker(Almasy) and a nurse(Hana) that starts to take care of him after he suffers from a plane crash.
The story revolves around the mistreatment with Almasy, who experiences love but also betrayal and politics, the end result of which is the injury that he faces and subsequently meeting the nurse who takes care of him.
The movie is surrounded in a dessert as the plane crash take place there. The finely written book is the magic of Michael Ondaatje.
It was therefore the perfect material to be turned into a movie and it was. In 1996, director Anthony Mingella turned this into a movie and the result was that, the movie was nominated for a whopping 60+ nominations, out of which it won 9 awards, speaks volumes of the story and the portrayal.
