There are very few books that actually get you involved to the extent that you start making comparisons on a emotional level with the protagonist of the novel. And Paulo Coelho’s Eleven Minutes does exactly the same. Surprisingly of course only the women who have read the book have felt the same.

SInce the protagonist of the novel is a woman.

To begin with I picked up the book without really knowing what it was all about. I had previously read two of Paulo Coelho’s book - The Alchemist (which is really popular) and The Pilgrimage. Both of which are not really spiritual but more on the lines of philosophy.

So reading eleven minutes was quite a revelation - a pleasant one realising the fact that a writer was so versatile.

Eleven minutes is a story of a girl who has a normal childhood - being born in a middle class family in a small town. And her journey from there to the big bad world. The choices she makes in life which knowing very well are bold. At 21 she does what she has to do for making loads of money. Her personal aim in life is of course to find love. Like most girls....

Does she or doesn’t she? Is the climax of the novel. And no I won’t spoil it by telling you more.

The book has it’s dose of philosophy and the search for what’s what .. which is where you identify a lot with the written word.

Wouldn’t really call it a mushy book. But it is a light book with loads of meaning - if you want to interpret it.
