Your Mouthshut (MS) profile is your personal signature. It’s one place where you are allowed to be as creative as you want, with no strict guidelines. It’s your territory entirely where you have to freedom to speak out about your favorite product – that is, yourself.

There are all kinds of profiles on mouthshut, just like there are all kinds of people. Some people like to be as secretive as they can while some go on for pages and pages writing about themselves and their families and their dogs and… you get the picture.

So what really makes a great profile ?

1. Photograph

I feel that no profile is complete without the snap. I don’t know about others but I am just not able to connect with people when I don’t know what they look like. And yes, MS is as much about connecting with each other as it is about reading, writing and rating reviews. It is an online community, isn’t it ? Otherwise one can always read about these products on many other web sites. I have experienced that the most popular members do have their photographs displayed very proudly. So, I think the presence of your snap makes a difference to your presence at MS.

2. Name, city, education and country

Yeah. One must fill those up too, since they give an idea to your fellow members about the location of the world you are operating from. Your city and country make a lot of difference to your perception about everything.   

3. About yourself

Tricky one, huh ? It sure is. I can write pages and pages about other things but ask me to write about myself, and I don’t know where to begin.   I do feel that it’s best to be as honest as you can even if you may feel tempted to go overboard. But believe me, that shows. And it’s always a joy to read a very honest opinion about somebody in their own words.

4. Interests

Music, dance, books, computers…..hmmm. I am guilty of listing them in this unimaginative way myself but there is no doubt that members who can avoid this trap and list their interests in the most interesting and original manner win hands down !
