Before understanding how to create a Effective Mouthshut Profile Page probably we should understand what is the purpose of the profile page.

What is the Profile
Profile is basically a image of you, in all respects. Profile helps people connect to you, it helps people to visualize you if you have not uploaded a Picture of your self.

When it comes to influence and attract people, the most effective way is to let them know that you have passion for similar things, that you like or dislike same stuff, thats what makes people get together. Most importantly, they realize that you too are a human being :-) and that there are other people who feel hurt or feel happy about things the same way you do.

Now lets get into the business of creating a profile of you, and what should be or should not be there.

What should be in the profile page?
People may have many different opinions about this. Perhaps as its mentioned in the previous reviews about the same topic, the most important things would be:

Geographical, Topographical & Gender Information
Man this is where I want to stress a point. In case you are not uploading your PIC, which is fine, but in that case don’t hide your gender. At least, I should know whether to address you a Mr. or Miss and His or Her in case I write a comment or write a review about you or send to a M2M.

It feels nice to see a person from ones hometown/region, and just put in the City/region where you are from. If you are hiding it here, mentioned is briefly in the About Me section, no need to be accurate, just say you are from Mumbai, or in my case I have put Mallu Land.

And, I would advice that you hide your addresses and phone numbers so that you don’t get crank calls or find someone stalking you.:-) The net is full of weird people.

Interests
I prefer making friends with people who have similar interests that I have. I love music and naturally I get attracted to other members who love the same.

Hence, putting your interests in would help you to get many friends over here. May be your interest is unique, but who knows, there may be someone else in MS who shares the same passion, and you can get together :-)

Who you are
Here you can put in a brief description about the person ’you’. What are you doing, or what you were planning to do and what’s up now a days. Put something that moves you, like a quote or a philosophy. You can also put in why you are happy or disguisted with your life.:-)

Something extra for your friends
After you get addicted to MS, and you want to do something new, you could probably take up this activity. Since you will end up logging in to MS everyday, to check the comments on your review or to see how many points you have accumulated and how many members you now have in your trust list, you can get 5 mins time and put something like Quote of the day which I do, or Joke of the day etc which is a ’extra’ feature in your profile. It’s interesting and you can share a quote you like or a joke you like with you buddies at MS.

Picture
Putting a picture is your discretion, and if you are putting it, put your own. I seriously believe that there is no way your picture will affect your ratings, if you write well you get good ratings and if you don’t do justice to the review you will get bad ratings.

The only thing you shouldn’t put in a profile
Don’t put something that may hurt others. Don’t make degradatory comments against a person, country, religion, group or place. You may hurt and offend lot of people unknowingly. Put these things in a well researched review and it would be appreciated more. Substatiate the review with lot of facts and figures though:-)

If you don’t want to upload a pic, leave it blank please.

The reason why I wrote this review is cos I added couple of members to my trust list today after reading their profiles; which when combined with whatever interaction I had with them, through M2M’s or comments in reviews, made me feel that they are true
