Pros:
See lots of products and compare prices
Cons:
Lots of cheats out there also, ebay business practices is not healthy

Please take a few minutes to conduct a small test. Go to ebay india website (http://www.ebay.in ), view a product. If the seller of the product has other items for sale, click on the sellers product

rating. Next, select another product from the same seller and again click on the seller rating. You will notice that you are being shown the same rating page. So:
1. The rating page does not show information specific to the product you are viewing. The rating page is designed to deliberatley mislead the prospective buyer.

Dig around - view other products on the ebay site. Soon enough you will notice several sellers warn you against giving negative rating. So:
2. Why does ebay allow sellers to post warnings against giving negative ratings? As the buyer you should be free to give any rating you like based on your experience with the purchase.

If you have purchased a product and try to leave a comment you will notice that ebay does not permit more than half a sentence. All you can write is a few words. So again:
3. Ebay feedback system is neither fair nor in the best interest’s of prospective buyers - it only serves to protect the seller.

I would love to see a field that says "Product manufactured in:" and the name of the country that manufactured the product being displayed. I wrote to ebay and apart from the automated message, got no further response from them. Over 60% of products being sold on ebay are "Made in China" these are almost always poor quality and simply made to look like the real thing. They work well for a short period before dying on you. Meanwhile you might have given a positive rating for the product which helps the seller but not the prospective buyer so:
4. ebay does not permit you to review and change your feedback.

5. Compare prices between ebay and the local shop in your neighbourhood. Like me you might be surprised to note that the prices quoted on ebay are often higher.

Finally, Check out the waranty. In most cases there is no product waranty and where it does exist, the seller often writes "Manufacturer Warranty" with most of these items being made in China:
6. Warranty statement often has no meaning to it. What it should also state is, name of the manufacturer and whether or not the product is being serviced in India.

A few sellers have a return policy. But notice that you have to return the product in the same condition within 7 days and what you get is often Not Money Back but something called "Merchandising credit" / "Excanage" If a product is defective, shouldn’t you have the right to demand a full refund? Why should you agree to have one defective product replaced by another (maybe equally defective product) How dare ebay permit unfair trade practices in India? so again:
7. Cheating is legal on ebay india
(see for yourself - lookup Samlai Technologies on ebay india.)

So, should you be buying from ebay? I’d say it depends on whether you like to gamble or not.
