Earl Grey Tea is my favorite type of tea.

THE HISTORY, (from a web site):

’The Earl Grey of Howick Hall was once the Prime Minister of England. He sent a Diplomatic Mission to China, (sometime in the 1830’s). One of the Envoy’s saved the life of a Chinese Madarin. This Madarin thanked him by giving a present of the recipe for how to make a scented tea. The Envoy returned to England and gave the recipe to Earl Grey.’

THE TEA:

I buy my Tea in a square can. There is an oval opening on the top. The first time I open a new can I use a dinner knife to pop the lid open. After that it open’s easily.

When I first tasted EARL GREY TEA I could taste the green and black tea blend, an orange, pear and lemon flavor with a slight taste of mint.

Did you know that tea has more caffeine than coffee? EARL GREY has about has 25-110 mg per cup.

HOW I DRINK MY TEA:

I never use a tea bag to brew tea. In a Restaurant if they serve me tea in a bag I open the bag and put it in the pot and let it sit for a few minutes. If there is no pot I put the loose tea in the cup of hot water and use the saucer to cover the cup.

I usually drink my tea without any thing in it. When I am feeling sick I add hot milk and one spoonful of sugar to it, (my Irish Grandmother used to make it this way for me).

I CAN READ TEA LEAVES:

I didn’t know that I could read tea leaves until many years ago. A friend of mine was a Physicologist. He was counseling a patient who was addicted to gambling.

My friend didn’t know anything about gambling so he decided to go with his patient to the Racetrack. He won a lot of money that day and he went back to the Racetrack every day. He lost thousands of dollars because he never won again.

Booking bets is not legal in Canada, (unless you are at a Racetrack). He found a ’Bookie’ and began to place bets on Football and Hockey Games and Horses that were running in other Cities.

One night a week before the Super Bowl Football game we went out to dinner with him and his wife. After dinner I ordered my EARL GREY TEA. When he saw me breaking the bag open he asked me if I could read tea leaves.

As a joke I said I could. I had no idea who the Teams were that would be playing in the Super Bowl that year. After I finished drinking my cup of tea I looked at the leaves and saw a Dolphin. That year the Miami Dolphins won the Super Bowl.

For the next three years he made me read the tea leaves and each year I picked the winning Team. This stopped because one day he went to the Racetrack and won thousands of dollars. They found him dead in his car. He was so excited that he had a heart attack.

I SWORE I WOULD NOT WRITE A REVIEW ABOUT THE FIFA GAMES:

I took out a spoonful of EARL GREY TEA and steeped it for a few minutes. I enjoyed my cup of tea and then I looked in the cup and this is what I saw:

1) The United States will beat Germany and South Korea will beat Spain. When the United States plays South Korea the Koreans will win and play in the final game.

2) England will beat Brazil and Senegal will beat Turkey. When England and Senegal play England will win and play in the final game.

3) The final game will be played in Tae gu/Dae gu, (I keep forgetting that South Korea is now using the old names for their Cities), where my Son lives. I will be looking for him in the stands while the rest of you will be watching the game.

The winner of the game will be South Korea.

SOME THOUGHTS:

I hope you enjoyed my review of EARL GREY TEA and my spoof on being still being able to read tea leaves.

If South Korea wins then I will come out of retirement and have a new career...reading tea leaves.
