E-books can never replace our good old paperbacks. Few years ago I used to think the other way. I was also believed that days of paperbacks are numbered. But not any more. I am a firm believer that paperbacks gonna stay for ever and are not threatened by E-books.
I started reading an e-book few months ago on my laptop. My god!! I could not concentrate even for a minute. First of all handling my laptop was a big problem. I am used to working with my laptop, sitting on the desk. Reading a document on a laptop sitting in the bed, didnt appeal to me at all. In spite of all this, I tried. (You got to try new technology somehow, no matter how uncomfortable you feel while using them.)
I started reading it.... In 20 mins, I felt so tired sitting in one erect position, my back started to pain. I changed my position ,changed it again, then again ,once more... I changed my position at least 10 times in one hour. Changing position was not a problem but changing it along with my laptop really added a lot of variables to the equation. The strain on the eyes was also a big distraction while reading.
Perhaps I was not used to it. But if I need to get used to it, I guess it will take me at least 10 years. Perhaps I was missing my paperback and the fragrance of it. I think I really was.
I am sure digital documents are only good for reading technical stuff. For leisure reading I would never read an E-book. That day I realised, a book is not only the text it contains, there are other things too that come with it.
For me reading an E-book was like reading lyrics of the song to enjoy it.
