Pros:
A book is a prized possession
Cons:
e-books may improve with time

I prefer a book in my hand, I want to feel the pages as the story unfold. I can feel the imagination flowing as I hold that book and become engrossed in the education of the topic. A book is something
to savor, to keep and re-read whenever you feel like renewing that experience.

Books have always been a passion of mine, maybe it was because when I was growing up, books were not available. I grew up in the 1930’s living on a farm during the depression there just was not enough money for books. My love of books developed after I was married which was during World War II. My husband also loved books and when he returned from the War we began our collection of books.

Now our collection has grown to seven bookcases of books. His collection is of World War II, sports and Westerns. Mine is of Aesop Fables and proverbs, politics, health and cookbooks. Of course there are encyclopedias, world affairs and college books. We also have a good collection of small paper backs and Time/Life collections. Our passion is with books that you can look, feel and touch each one with loving care.

For all the above reasons I will always want to hold that book in my hands, instead of reading a book on line. For one thing the computer screen is hard on your eye and my computer chair is not as comfortable as my recliner while I read. I must admit I have never read a book on line, have not purchased Audio books either. I do read while riding in the car, it passes the time and does not bother my husband if an audio book was playing. We just listen to music while traveling.

I do purchase book on-line by Amazon.com and Book-of-the month club, plus Literary Guild. These subscription book clubs have changed, I just joined them and shall see if they have improved their line of books and the dreaded special monthly selection. Working on line is going to be much simpler with these book club. We get gift certificates from our children for books, they know that is something we will enjoy and can pick out our own books.

Books are still as popular as ever, I keep close watch on the Best Seller lists and am mostly interested in non-fiction. I will read novels if they include history along with the story. A lot of my reading now is on Web sites such as this. Reading other members reviews, editorials and comments on these Web sites keeps me occupied and informed. It is the best was to keep your self educated and your mind alert. TO BECOME EDUCATED YOU WILL IMPROVE THE WORLD AROUND YOU!!
