Certain critics are still claiming that this film has done "average to above average business" even though Don has grossed close to 50 crores. Inspite of reading about all the criticism that
this movie was subjected to, I decided to watch Don. I was pleasantly surprised. This film has got to be one of Shahrukh’s top notch performances. It felt like the crazy, mean guy from Darr and Baazigar is back. I was a bit skeptical before going to watch this film as I
did not want to see a repeat of the pathetic Raam Jaane performance of the street guy which could have been possible in his role as "Vijay". I am glad to say that there was no sign of it and DON is an absolute delight to watch. The new Don is sexy, cool and tech-smart.
This movie has a different story line and climax, compared to the older version which was great. Farhan has done a fine job with the screenplay, in picking and choosing some of the good scenes from the older version and adding in new masala for his version. The girls really don’t have much to do (except look good) with Priyanka getting a little bit more screen time than Kareena and Isha.
Farhan ends the movie with a possibility of a sequel which just might work and has indeed justified the line: Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi Naamunkin hai.
Comparisons between Big B and SRK are bound to happen, but SRK has played the role in his own style and since the story is different, and Vijay is practically NOT there in the film, there is really no room for comparison.
The two original tracks are pretty good and hummable and the others sound like remixes. The background score is FANTASTIC.
Cinematogrpahy is pretty good.
Overall, its definitely a must watch and a complete entertainer!
