Finally, I got to read the sequel of Stephen King's bestselling novel The shining. I always wondered what happened to the psychic boy in The shinning, Dan Terrance. Fortunately, now I can stop wondering. Dan Terrance is middle aged and is helping a girl in this book.
Escaping from The Overlook hotel was not easy for Dan, yet somehow he has managed to build a new life for himself. He works as a nurse and usually is able to comfort the dying because of his supernatural powers. Hence, the name Doctor Sleep.
Dan meets Abra, a twelve year old girl who has the brightest shining. Dan has to fight with demons and save Abra and himself. Stephen King's writing is flawless and his storytelling ability is unquestionable. The story is completely engrossing and I just couldn't put it down till I finished it. I absolutely loved this book. I would recommend to read it with an open mind and treat it as a new story instead of looking for The Shinning kind of story in it.
