This book is a book that is filled with thrill and suspense.At first while reading we think that this book is boring but it pr hioves us wrong .This book is has set up in Chicago .The writer tells us that there are 5 factions namely: Dauntless, Erudite, Abnegation, Amity and Candor.There are mainly 3 main character, who are Beatrice whose other name is Tris, Tobias whose other name is Four and lastly Jeanine.In this book, After the age of 16 you have to choose a faction according to your Aptitude test.In here Beatrice chose to become a part of Dauntless though her result was DIVERGENT in Aptitude test which is rare and is combination of Erudite, Abnegation and Dauntless.After she joins the Dauntless, she had to go to the Dauntless headquarter where she had to jump in a moving train and jump out of a moving train to the top of the building.When she is there she changes her identity as Tris.There with her there are many initiates who had to win others in order to be a part of Dauntless.There she became the last for few weeks.Then she came first in the various tests due to her ability to manipulate the stimulation as she was DIVERGENT.In there she makes few friends like Cristina, Zeke, etc.There she learnt how to fight, fire a gun, jump and climb a moving train.There she only has rivalry with Peter who wants to come first among all but can't as Tris wins him.Four is the person who looks after the initiates.Four starts to admire Tris.There is another leader of Dauntless who is Eric who doesn't like Tris at all.While training the initiates, they make 2 teams whose leader are Eric and Four.Tris falls in Four's team.They have to capture the flag but don't know where it is.Tris gets an idea of climbing the Ferris wheel to spot the flag and Four See's her doing so.He also climbs and Tris comes to know that he is afraid of heights.After they come to know the flag they capture it and win.To celebrate that she goes to experience with her friends and other Dauntless to the tallest building for Zipline ride.She stands in the queue for her turn.When her turn comes she feels so afraid but still goes for it.As soon as she is dropped she closes her eyes for few seconds and then opens and feels good and spreads her hand like a bird in the sky.She could notice the ferris wheel, Dauntless headquarter, many buildings and the city.She forgets to pull the break and when she remembers she thinks that she will be dead but the Zipline stops exactly near the board. Although Tris loves Four but is afraid of him.She evens goes into his fears to experience.When the final stimulation test is conducted, she thinks that she performed very bad but her results were the best among all.This book doesn't has a normal ending.The erudite start controlling the Dauntless for killing the Abnegation people , mainly the leader.Among them Tris's Dad is also one, but he becomes safe.Tris and four being Divergent cannot be controlled by the Erudite.They act as if they are being controlled and notice many Dauntless soldiers killing the Abnegation leader and their family.Tris just becomes afraid if her parents were also killed or still alive.Later while escaping she comes to know that her parents were alive.After she is captured by the Erudite , they tell her that she will be given a unique stimulation that affects only the Divergent.But with her mother's help she escapes that but Four is affected by.
