“Dinosaur” – PG

When Dinosaurs roamed the earth there were no human beings. They had to fend for themselves for food, water and protection. This movie starts with a dinosaur
egg. It was removed from its mother’s nest and tossed around to see who got to eat it. A Pterodactyl was carrying it when it fell onto the other side of an island, a place where the dinosaurs did not live. A family of Lemurs found the egg and decided to raise this dinosaur.

Years later the dinosaur, Aladar is living with his family when a meteor shower covers their home with fire. They are forced to move out of their home. They meet up with a traveling herd of dinosaurs that are moving to the infamous ‘nesting place.’ At the nesting place, they will have all the food and water necessary to start their lives again.

Kron, the head dinosaur, tries pushing the herd to the max and they are having trouble keeping up. During the move they also have to beware of the dangerous T-Rex, who seems to be lurking behind every corner. Alador helps the dinosaurs who fall behind and finds an easier way to ‘the nesting place.’ He and his new love interest, Neera, try and help the others to get there, but those T-Rex aren’t far behind.

The movie was written by Walon Green and directed by Eric Leighton and Ralph Zondag. The voices in this film were; D.B. Sweeney as Aladar, Julianna Margulies as Neera and Della Reese as Eema. They did a fantastic job with the voiceovers and kept you interested in watching this movie. The movie was very well done and also had an extremely touching story. With the big successes of animated movies, it’s hard to know which ones will be worth watching. But with huge hit movies like the “Jurassic Park” trio and the children’s “Land Before Time” series of movies, it seems dinosaurs are the way to go to have a hit movie! I liked it a lot and would highly recommend it. I would recommend it to adults even though it is a cartoon. You’ll like the cute story line.

Enjoy!
