Story:

Anne Frank's Diary is the tale of a young jew girl during the tumultous second world war as told by her, to her diary. She writes to her diary (named ''kitty'') about her life before and after her family went into hiding.

She gets the diary from her father as a birthday gift, and really cherishes it. She tells all to the diary, makes it a part of life, makes it her best friend and companion.

Those were the days of great atrocities perpetuated upon the jews. The Franks went into hiding to protect themselves from the Nazis. Anne Frank writes about the day-to-day happenings within their secret hiding and how the family copes with the situation.

The most striking thing about the diary is how mature Anne Frank is. For a girl of not more than 14 years, she displays brilliant maturity and a great command over the language. The ease with which she is able to describe emotions and situations really strikes a chord. It creates a bond between Anne Frank and the reader of her diary.

As one reads through the pages, one gets to know Anne Frank better, gets to know her likes and dislikes, her ups and downs. She goes on to explain in detail about their life and the problems they face in hiding.

Definitely worth a read but one must know the events that happened after the diary ends to get the whole story fo the little girl into perspective.
