I had all -ve feelings about this movie prior to watching it...but ain't the same after watching it...To start off there are some movies that SHAKE U OFF! this is one such movie..it left an impact on me for almost and hour or so after the end of the movie...
In order to understand the movie u should have a high EQ (emotional quotient)..some people who definitely lack this will feel that the movie is a stupid movie...After watching the movie I could easily say that KIRAN RAO is fantastic and understanding and mature in her thinking..maybe even better than Aamir Khan in the way she approaches films...
The story is about journey of two people - one dhobi Munna from Bihar and another girl Yasmeen from UP..since these two characters come from small places they have HONESTY instilled in them which remains unaffected in the PRACTICAL Mumbai life!
The story goes on to say what happens to them because of their honesty and how they are treated in Mumbai....main point being HOW MUCH these characters(Munna and Yasmeen) THINK and FEEL about others while OTHERS DO NOT THINK the same way...Its real amazing and true representation of those coming from small villages to Mumbai for bread and butter...
Come on Mumbaiites - Lets get a bit emotional along with practicality...start thinking of things which need not relate to money every time...lets try to create Mumbai a better place for all class, caste, creed of people.The movie has some very good moments -
When Yasmeen decides to commit suicide
When Yasmeen says that her husband is having an affair ( this was very emotional for me since it made me think of father-mother-brother-sister whose girl is married to some insensitive, immature, practical bas@$#$)..
Come on PRACTICAL HUSBANDS - start thinking and giving time to your wife, mom & dad, kids, grandparents, friends, neighbors etc.
- When munna decides to help shai in the end - even though knowing that she does not love him and had no feelings the way munna loved shai....Almost all the actors have done a wonderful job..Though Aamir is present in the movie his character importance is very little.
Overall a real good movie with real good intentions and with such a high level of understanding which only real Intelligent people can think.. It truly deserves an applause...Hats Off - KIRAN RAO....
