Dhaba express, having few outlets in Chennai is an ideal location for those who love Punjabi food. The food is just mouth watering and the service is fairly good. The one on the cathedral road is the main outlet, though the menu at other outlets remain the same. The most appealing part of all the outlets is the interiors and the ambience created by the display of ancient utensils. The one in Mahalingapuram, ’Sachin ka Dhaba’ displays b/w pictures of old hindi movie superstars and plays old hindi songs. The one on cathedral road has variety of sitting arrangments. Outside lawn has a small waterfall near which coconut thread woven ’khatias’ are placed to give a feeling of having food at the road side dhabas in UP and Punjab. Inside the furniture is made of wood and there is an arrangment to sit on the floor too with extremely less heighted chairs.

The most appealing part of the menu is the drinks including ’Jaljeera’ and ’bhangra pepsi’ - pepsi mixed with jaljeera - the only place in the town where you can have this drink. The freshly made jalebis form a good desert. They used to have a buffet system for Rs.50 during lunch hours - the most delicious buffet for this amount - not sure whether it is still there.

Good place for people in Chennai who are fed up of eating idlis and dosai.
