Good one, with few strings attached!. Review on Dell Latitude C600

Why did I buy it? No I didn't.. I used it because my office gave it to me. I have used an IBM thinkpad before I got this DELL Latitude C600.

I have been using it day in and day out, and there have been lots of failures... keyboard, palm rest, motherboard, screen mounts, touch pad, top cover.. what not? but one thing commendable about DELL has been that I have never waited for the part for more than 24 hours. New part reaches me exactly next day after I log in my problem.

There were few problems initially, like mouse pointer drifting to one side and similar stuff but all those were addressed by updating bios.

This problem of mouse drifting is very common in these machines and I have been seeing this happening with lots of people in my office.

Regarding compatibility, whatever I have used till now has worked; hardware as well as software. I had some problems running few games, but that wasn't a pain area for me anyway. Have installed, 98/2000/XP.. and all have worked well.

One thing I didn't like is that the screen gets prominent scratches when you close the lid. It is caused by screen touching few keys of the keyboard right in the middle, and its very irritating.

I would definitely recommend DELL to my friends if not this particular model, because I have had a very nice experience with service till now.
