Dell is known for pricing its products fairly. While they are always low on innovation, they are considered quite affordable which is myth considering the price I paid for the piece I bought. It has poor display. I purchased this netbook after reading review in a tech blog. Dell is marketing this product as'Inspiron M101Z' while they are selling'Inspiron 1120'. Inspiron M101Z netbook receives premier customer service in the west equivalent to that of XPS and Alienware while other products receive standard customer service. Standard customer service has nothing standard about it.
I found myself miffed at the fact that they sent me Inspiron 1120 although I paid price for Inspiron M101Z.
M101Z is a copy of Sony's VAIO Y-series. Better go for VAIO Y-series than M101Z.
Whenever I have called the customer care(and there have been two times since I have purchased this netbook), talking to their executives was a toil since the voice quality at their end was poor. I seriously feel that this has been done intentionally.
The antiviurs they are packaging with this product is McAfee. McAfee is no more a standard antiviurs anymore. There are better antiviurs products like AVG, Avira, etc.(reviewed by AV-comparatives.org) available for free on internet and Dell is selling a poor product like McAfee to us. How can they take right to brag that they see only customer interest when they are misguiding the customer by offering antivirus products like McAfee. They could have packaged Microsoft Security Essentials for free but they don't. They offer costly and ineffective product like McAfee instead.
Their sellers don't know what they are selling many times. I asked their sales guy what surge-protector is. He doesn't know. Then why would l purchase surge-protector from them. Later I came to know that surge-protector is a good preventive care for a laptop.
If you are one of those who believe that Dell offers great products and works in customer's interest, it's time for you to wake up and keep your eyes open. Be very cautious while buying anything from their Inspiron series; there is nothing inspiring about it.
