The very title of this topic seems so scary to most of us....’How to deliver an EFFECTIVE speech’ What exactly do we consider as effective? Is what I consider ’effective’ enough? Or should I consider ’effective’ from what people generally think it is? Well, thats a lovely question, but unfortunately, the answer is not simple. We have to make the speech effective in terms of content and credibility.
    The very first thing to consider is to prepare yourself completely. Read about your topic, talk to people about it, get the general idea. Reading from a paper is not very impressive, although you may carry index cards. They look smart and are very helpful.(send me a message if you want to know how to make these cards and I’ll be glad to help). Next, make yourself comfortable with the equipment that you will be using...collar mics can be a little tricky but you get used to them fairly easily.
     Now, the actual delivery of the speech. Try not to pace about. It disrtacts your audience and soon they might lose interest. Instead, change your tone for better effect and believe me, it keeps your audience rapt. Finish with a flourish...keep an open end if you want your audience to think about the issue, or wrap it up tight if you want them to accept your views.
     One last piece of advice...if you feel nervous at any given instance, imagine your audience in their underwear. ( I dont mean to be vulgar, this is a piece of advice you will find almost everywhere...and it WORKS like magic!!)
