I am a pass out of Delhi technological university. It used to be one of the best colleges of the country. it is also the mother institute of various institutes like IIT DELHI. However over the years, it has lost some of its shine. The deterioration started when it was converted to DTU from DCE. No, changing of the name of the college has no change in tangibles, however the way the college was managed after this change caused it causing its downfall.
The morale of the older star faculty is down, as many of their service conditions were tempered with. Many left to teach in other institutions. The college has been overstretched in terms of number of students intake, programs, hostels etc. the current resources aren't simply enough to support a student strength of 5000 students.
though the extra curricular activities are good, if you are willing to join them. academically, you can bunk classes and still have a very good academic record. studies are not so hard. But its a good news that a new East delhi campus is opening up. it will provide a breather.
But one thing has remained constant- that is, the quality of students. you can count on meeting some enlightened minds here. and if you don't fall into the trap of complacency during your 4 years here, you can do very well for yourself. The brand name of DCE/DTU still holds out as one of india's finest!
