Just naming a school international does not make it one. This school, Deccan International School's claim to fame is 10 acres of land. How does that benefit a child. So if I paid 75, 000 as fee this year, how much of this land contributes to my child's development.
The school a few years ago, started the IG stream in 9th. It does not offer the whole breadth of courses to teach. An NRI friend laments that the school salivates for NRI money. The only advantage is a kid from abroad can join a class at any time during the academic year. A kid studying in the school can go abroad for two years and rejoin. And fee needs to be paid all over again.
Coming to teaching, less said the better. Good teachers do not stick around and the school is incapable of attracting capable talent.
Teachers' behavior in class is something to be talked about. A teacher needs to be patient with all kinds of learners. Shouting and hitting - what are they teaching kids? Losing temper is all very immature. I am sure for all of us our favorite subjects are those that were taught well. If a child feels threatened and insulted in class how will he learn. The school is blind to all this incidents in class room. Even if this comes to their notice, they do nothing, forcing parents like me to move their children to another school.
It is alright if every child in a class does not top in academics. But let us not create a generation of children who think they are not capable of anything without academics. The biggest contribution of a school would be making every child confident.
