The best way to reach Dandeli from Pune id Using KSRTC buses , which go till Hubli or Belgaum.
From there we hired a 9 seater pick up and drop for about 4500 arranged by the trip advisor.
The booking for resorts in Dandeli is done from a common site, no where else you will find direct contacts for the resorts in dandeli.The resorts are booked through the trip advisors mentioned on site.
We had planned a trip for 3 days to dandeli starting 5th October.
Resort : Dandeli Jungle Camp, Rooms were in bad shape(cant expect more in jungle), good food!
5th October Activities:
Jacuzzi - Just a Small waterfall like structure on river kali , coster 150/head, worth only if with a big group. Done at Bison river resort.
River Crossing - This activity is fun for adventure lovers . In this activity a rope was tied on opposite ends of Kali river , and needs to be crossed with the help of a rope.Its enough if you could go halfway ;) Cost 350/head .Fun!! Done at Bison river resort.
Jungle Trek : 6kms/3 kms , we opted for 6 kms... utter waste of time. It was just a trail inside the jungle. The treks might vary from resort to resort
Camp fire : Was part of our package. Bored as fire did not lit
6th October :
As all the safaris in India are currently closed , pending on decision to be taken by Supreme court on 9th oct, we had to opt for location outside Dandeli :
Satavdi waterfalls: 70 kms from Dandeli, resort manager arranged for transport and packed lunch .
Way to Satavdi waterfall is beautiful. It Passes from the jungle .
Waterfall is huge at this time of year and beautiful.Water is clean and cold. On the walk to waterfall you can see lot of beautiful butterflies. But the crowd was a huge disappointment. But in a group you enjoy playing in water.
PS : Too many monkeys :-)
7th October :
Bird Watching : Good activity for bird lovers. we managed to see lot of birds hornbill, wood pecker to name a few.The guide for bird watching Shashidharan was pretty good , he has complete knowledge of the area and is from a NGO.
Honey Bee Interaction : Just a 15 mins activity, info about bees. The Green tea provided there was awesome.
Back waters : Nothing much to see.
Return to Belgaum for KSRTC bus.
Overall the experience to Dandeli was good, very very warm people and beautiful green but surely anyone visiting dandeli should check on safari.Also Right now not the best season to visit.
Also according to the Guide Dandeli Core area has around 15 tigers, panthers, deers and many more animals !
