Pros:
close getaway, well connected, some real cheap boozing
Cons:
nothing exciting to offer - be it beach, sand, or recreational facilities

As the title of the review suggests, Daman is ok for once in a while weekend trip, not very special in any other terms, be it - beach, hotel accommodation, sight seeing etc.

The Major Attraction here is Devaka Beach, comparatively it is clean and also the sand is not sticky & muddy for otherwise sticky-muddy beaches of Arabian sea. It has lot of small rocks at the coast where you can sit & enjoy the evening, and specially so if you drink, because drinking bear sitting on beach is quite normal here.

Safety - in terms of safety the beach will not cause much worry as there is no steep slope here & having rocks at shores also helps one to enjoy the mild waves, sitting just a few meter inside. But there is no such life-guard facility or anything available there.

Daman is one sleepy place which is still somehow green with old-buildings at both side of roads, but recent industrial developments (with tax soaps given to them), it will not remain with same greenery in future.

Connectivity - Connectivity is very good from road & rail both, the nearest railway station is Vapi, which is well connected on the western railway route and all major trains stop here. By road also it is a drive of 4 Hrs from Mumbai.

It is for those:-
Who just want to spend an evening somewhere away and return back to base the same day then it is ok with a long drive & then some soothing sitting at the beach-rocks. It is also for those who want to spend some days alone at a sleepy place with moderate budget (with so many small resorts in Daman available) & also in the close vicinity of their base. And off course for those who want to do some boozing at the beach

It is not for those:-
Looking for lot of fun filled recreational holiday with family, for a more than 2 days holiday. It does not add much value in terms of sight seeing or spending some quality time under the sun at the beach. So If you are looking for a serious vacation with lots of excitement filled in, then this is not the destination for you.
