I got a wireless modem from BSNL.According to them it's useful mostly for Laptops and if you want it for your pc you have to upgrade it with a USB port etc.I was rather disappointed because the intention of getting the wireless modem was to connect my pc at a distance from the phone point. That's when I came across theWirelesss USB Adapter.
A very small piece, occupies hardly any space. The brand is D-Link.The features includeWireless access through USB 2.0 for laptop or desktop pcs.Upto 54 Mbps with Airplus G products* Security connect to wireless networks with WPA and WPA2* Also 802.11b compatibleI have placed it, along with the pc, in the same room where I have the phone connection, ( not beside it ) but I believe it can take flexible placement. The laptop gets connected from anywhere in the house.Gives you the luxury of placing your Comp (even the Desktop one) anywhere at home irrespective of where your phone is .Cost Rs. 4000 a couple of months back.
