This is in continuation to Nikhils article. I own a Maruti 1000 and seriously wanting to convert to LPG considering the price of petrol today : Rs41+ /lt.

I have driven a couple of cars fitted with LPG including the 118NE Fiat,Maruti1000 and the Omni but do find a lack in power while driving these cars. Many a times engine roughness was noticed including misfiring. Will be happy to hear about the economics of LPG conversion today with the gas price being rather high(aprox Rs.900/- for a cylinder of 35L)

Could anybody highlight on the maintenance aspects after converting to LPG?
Do also throw light on the roughness of the engine and the lack of power.

It is not very convenient to stand in queues for filling gas at very few available gas stations. The over all increase in the weight of the fitment will also bring down the mileage. We cannot forget the inconvenience when we need service help.

Only specialists will have to be contacted for help and may not be available in an emergencey. While travelling out station it is all the more difficult to locate a mechanic who will be in a position to help. I know that the petrol option exists but what about the economy when out of station and the LPG fitment trouble starts?

All these aspects will have to be weighed before embarking on LPG conversion.
Will appreciate some debate on this topic.
