One of the best descriptions of the civil war I have ever read. It deals with the life of a hero wandering about the countryside trying to find his way back home. The gamut of events and emotions the character goes through tells the tale of the effects that the violence of that scale left behind. The story is effectively told by the characters he meets during the journey.
An empathetic that shows what others suffering can do to your psyche.
A movie was made based on the book and it went on to win several awards including the Oscars, Speaks a lot about the quality of this work. The Author Charles Frazier, captures our imagination and captivates us with his lucid writing style and wonderful narration, Whether it is describing the geographical features or characters, he does well. The style kind of made me feel like im reading a Khaled Hosseini.
Sometimes the plot moves a bit too slowly for my taste, and sometimes a little too fast. Thankfully even the faster portions have been detailed well enough to avoid pitfalls
