My family and my friend's family went to Munnar on Sept 2nd 2008 from Bangalore. We took the Kanyakumari Express to Ernakulam. The train journey is 12 hours . From Ernakulam we had arranged for a cab (Toyota Innova) to pick us up. it is a 5 hour drive to Munnar thru beautiful winding roads. (Caution to all people whoget travel sick on hilly roads). It cost me Rs 5000/- one way by the Innova cab. Tata Indica costs around 2.2k one way.
The resort location (18 kms) from the town of Munnar is terrific with great front views. The roos are very good and the staff very courteous. Theere is a lot of activity for children (at a cost ofcourse), but kids can spend few hoursa a day on very creative stuff like flower making, glass painting, toy making or just playing indoor games or adventure sports.
I was dissappointed with the buffet food as they dished standard North indian fare and the local fare was either missing or too less/bad. The food was not value for money in my opinion.
One has to visit Munnar to look at the natural beauty of the place. Please go around the place and to the interiors to see some breathtaking views. The resort is great except for the food. It is definitely a bit expensive. The journey is exhaustive especially for kids.
