When I conceived, I had been scouting hospitals all over Bangalore for the best medical facility and strangely did not bother to check the one closest to my place. The cloud nine on the old airport road was the last place I went to check out and was immediately put to ease, all my anxieties alleviated even before meeting the doctor because the ambiance of the place was nothing like a serious, stuffy, scary hospital. Families lounging on sofas and children running about, a relaxed space and a number of smiling expecting women and new mothers with their bundle of joys.

The next task was finding a doctor for myself, I had read no reviews prior to my visit and hence the first doc I consulted was Dr. Jaya Bhatt. I also need to mention here that I was a diabetic with a tad bit risky pregnancy. Dr. Jaya Bhatt spoke to me and scared me to my wits end when she said that she would have to take out the baby in 28 weeks as mine was a complicated case hence she would take no chances. I thought about her advice for two days and decided I needed a second opinion and in my next visit I found my doctor. Dr. Sita Rajan appears to be serious and strict with little scope for social pleasantries but she knows her job and man she is good at it. She promised me a complete term and normal delivery if I promised to keep my sugars under absolute control.

I completed my 37th week and it was only when my blood pressure shot up, she decided to induce labor and she waited for one whole day for the process to kick in. However, it was only towards morning that the baby movement started slowing down a bit, she took a wise decision to operate and by seven in the morning I had my beautiful beautiful daughter by my side. The post delivery care was also extremely good with nurses available round the clock and doctors checked in twice daily with Dr. Rajan making a point to visit atleast once during the day. Her instructions to nurses were clear and she kept answering all my questions patiently about recovery and post delivery care. Ours was the only baby on the entire hospital floor without the mildest signs of jaundice.

To sum it up, we ended our association with a box of chocolates.:) Yes, it turned out to be an expensive affair financially but hey we are talking about our babies and nothing can be more precious than their safe arrival into the world.
