Gold Adlabs - not sure what is the significance of 'Gold' in this name, may be to create an image of a big multiplex, they named it 'Gold' and Adlabs coz it is owned by Adlabs films Ltd. (Pstt... they started Mumbai's first multiplex IMAX Adlabs and world's biggest IMAX dome theatre)...............anyway whats there in the name...........it was Sunday, it was raining and I wanted to see a movie in a multiplex..........Gold Adlabs being near to my house in Pune had been the obvious choice............
The Location
The multiplex is located at Kalyani Nagar........an extension of Koragaon Park in Pune.......ideal for those who want to get out of the traffic filled Pune.........and enjoy their weekend at a peaceful place..........this locality reminds me of the Chanakya Puri in Delhi (where all embassies are there)........with Sector no. and lane nos. to designate the addresses......plantations in the road dividers.........surrounded by big offices of major IT companies..........cool location indeed......
The Features
# 3 screen Multiplex
# Restaurants - Good ones including KFC
# Grand entrance lobby - its huge indeed.....
# Two level parking - the basement car parking is gigantic and well managed.....
# Multilevel shopping and recreational - you can shop everything inside this multiplex right from books, magazines to branded shirts and toys.......its a multiplex cum shopping mall.....
# Escalators Facility - yeah its there.....
# High speed lifts
# Energy Management and fire prevention systems
# Central AC Power Back Ups
The Experience
So, we happened to go there on Sunday, one of us got the tickets of 'Mr and Mrs Smith' while others waited in the car parked on the roadside........yeah that's important buddy if dont want your car to be towed by the traffic police........parked the car in the huge basement parking.........we had some time, so munched on some Chinese food........and we could see the traffic police towing dozens of cars parked on the roadside, while we were grabbing some manchurian.........
The entrance lobby is huge........you could see KFC immediately on the right side of the entrance.........n then there are lots n lots of restaurants followed by shops/showrooms............we purchased some books............took the escalator to the theatre.........
The entrance lobby of the theatre is again a strange one.........the security over there reminds of the Jet Airways check in counter at any airport......with ribbons fixed to steel pillars to function as dividers between the two gates........a boy and a girl in uniform to check your tickets............and here you go inside the lobby of the theatre.........to see a series of stalls selling variety of foodstuff..........corn stuff is popular over there apart from the usual popcorn, soft drinks, sandwiches and samosas...........
The hall is cool, well air-conditioned..........seats are comfortable........sound is cool, not harsh to ears......Sathyam multiplex in Chennai needs to learn a lot from others in the category in the country....................
The cost of the tickets and foodstuff is comparable to any other theatre in this category.........not too costly.............
Conclusion
Overall a good experience...........though there are better multiplexes in Pune........but this is not bad too..........a cool place slightly away from the city.........the crowd is good.........you see lots of foreigners here, Osho Ashram being nearby...........the place is worth giving a visit.
