Gold Adlabs started around a year back. It was great news for me back then , as it is hardly 2 kms from my place. Its a 3 screen Multiplex, with a mall, hence a great place to do hang around.

About the theatre :

The picture quality is good , better than Inox ( one more multiplex in the vicinity ) , but no one can beat the sound effects of Inox. At adlabs, you feel that they just increase the sound to the maximum volume, with no channel encoding, hence you dont really get the theatre feel in terms of sound effects.

The seating capacity is decent, but I dint like the seats. The seats do not recline. There is good leg space though .

Snacks/ Canteen sucks, I never liked the samosas of Adlabs, Inox has an advantage there too. The pricing is obviously - as known in all multiplexes - too too high (you could buy one more ticket in that much money ! )

About the ticket rate - well, the tickets were cheaper than Inox, second reason why I used to go to Adlabs. But now, the ticket rates have been increased and even morning shows on saturday - sunday cost 70 bucks , not the usual 50 bucks.

Everything was good, and Adlabs definitely had the edge over Inox , until February . Now one thing that prompted me to write a review on this theatre is because of the experience I had twice in this theatre.

Twice , I had to ask for refund of my tickets, because there were no lights and the Multiplex was in complete blackout state. No lights , even at the lobby area, in front of the canteen . It happened first time when I saw Rang De Basanti in last week of January . The lights went after 2 hrs the show started. The hall was in complete darkness and no management came inside the hall to inform us that the show is now cancelled. The public waited for almost half an hour , expecting the movie to start. Finally , the angry public fought with the management and they had to give a refund to everyone. Let me add, the management also has degraded, with no personnel to attend to your problems or direct you properly.

I went for V for Vendetta and Gangster, on evening and morning respectively, and both times, the screen went blank momentarily , because of the load shifts in this area. Load shifts happen in all areas of Pune, and all multiplexes have dealt with that . But apparently, Adlabs hasnt.

Just yesterday, my family booked tickets in advance for the latest movie 36 China Town. When we reached the theatre, we saw a whole commotion outside Adlabs entry door, because the lights were not there , and the hall was again in complete darkness. We took our refund and came back home dejected, with all plans of a great Saturday evening crashed, thanks to Adlabs .

All I want to say is that, go to adlabs , but expect the unexpected. Dont bank on the theatre providing you power back up at times of power failure in the area. . I will definitely not make any plans to watch a movie in this theatre again.

As for now, I think Inox is really , really better than Adlabs. And if both Multiplexes have the same pricing , go for Inox.

( one thing that me and friend just discussed today was that the theatre may not satisfy the safety standards for multiplexes. It doesnt show you the map to follow in case of fire - as shown in Inox. also the adlabs entry gate is very narrow , which I think should have been bigger )
