Might be for my sins in the life, I came across Citibank ( the worst ever bank in the world ) twice in my life. First time when I opened my NRI account and second when I taken home loan from them.
The
lowest interest rate they offered me, the condition that minimum of the equivalent of $1000 needs always to be there into account and the way they treat their customer.. all these things made me finally to close my account. It had happened, I remember, once I had been in their Pune office in camp. I wanted to deposit the cheque of foreign currency to deposit into my account. But nobody was there to help me. Finally the watchman there asked me to sit in the chair in a cabin where nobody was there. After a long time of waiting a lady came inside. I remember her surname Atre. She ignored me even after I told her about my work. When I asked second/third time, with great hesitation on her face, she threw some papers in front of me to fill up and she left the cabin forever. It was so embarrassing and at that moment only I made my decision final to close the account with the bank.
Second worst ever experience is with Citibank home loan. In fact, after closing the NRI account, I had decided to never go to any of the Citibank service in my life. So I applied to ICICI for loan. But it looks my bad luck was on move and the ICICI bank agent, on his own, transferred my loan process to Shelter ( This is so called as ’’loan processing unit’’ of Citibank ). But because I had time constraint, I didn’t have time to change it back to ICICI, so I decided continued with Citibank loan. The guys at Shelter treats customer very badly. Till the sanctioning of the loan, they behaves very nice and very polite with you. After that, once they got their percentage from Citibank for getting loan sanctioned, don’t expect any kind of respect and manners from those dirty pigs !! I remember, after getting loan, I went UK and my father started looking into filing my income tax etc. For that he wanted some papers related to this loan and he went in Shelter office. There, nobody entertained him and after spending lot of time, a person told him to go in Citibank’s main office at camp. In the main office, he didn’t get the documents, moreover he told to go back to Shelter. He is aged and had came from long distance to get those documents but nobody helped him.
When I came back from UK, I paid the Citibank whatever amount they asked and closed the loan. Then I called Citibank customer service to ask about my original documents ( Original house agreement and other imp docs ). They told I’ll get those docs from Shelter within eight days. I called Shelter. The lady on the other side told me, with arrogance filled in her voice, to come and collect the documents after eight days. Eight days passed, I am told documents are not yet released. I called them after few more days. Again the same - documents were not ready. After frequent calls, a lady told me to come and pick the documents up from Shelter office. Accordingly, I postponed all my office meetings and scheduled work and went at Shelter office ( which was now again at different place than where it was just a year back !! ) Asked about the documents. The chief lady over there without any shame on her face told me documents are not ready. Now this was too much. I fought with her. Shouted and screamed, But she was more than shameless. When I asked her who is her boss, that dirty lady send me to a guy sitting in the corner. I went in front of him and started arguing with him. At the same time, from my backside I heard voice of laughing. The pigs were laughing at me because the person I was talking with was in fact working as office boy over there ! I was totally devastated with all this. At the same time I started feeling scary too, because Shelter did not have given me any legal receipt of the documents. Whatever receipt they had given me was a simple paper, with the list of documents written on it, and signed by clerk without any name bellow !! I started feeling like have been cheated. Meanwhile, to get my documents back, I written many emails to Citibank customer service. But all of no use. They were again telling the same.. ’’Citibank has no control on your documents and goto Shelter and collect your documents’’ After struggle of more than two and half months, finally I got my original documents back !!
It was all nightmare with Citibank and Shelters ( or Cheaters ). After this I’ve decided to tell everyone who comes across my way to NOT to goto any of the Citibank service. They are WORST bank in this world .
