Charles Dickens is one of my favorite writers. He has created some of the best fictional characters of all time. Ebeneezer Scrooge, the protagonist, is a cold, inconsiderate person, who hates Christmas. Dickens's writing is flawlessly brilliant and even though Scrooge is an unlikable character, yet you end up falling in love with him.
An old friend visits him and a blast from the past changes things for Scrooge. The story is intriguing and you will find yourself engrossed in it.
Dickens has crafted a wonderful story line with a lovable villain who ultimately becomes a hero. The lessons that Scrooge learns as the story progresses are timeless and worth learning. The best thing is that it is a light read and you can definitely finish it one sitting. Some of the parts are so sublime that you will be forced to highlight them so that you can refer to them in the future. This is one must read classic about the importance of a festival as beautiful as Christmas and everything that it represents.
