I have been to Puson, South Korea three times but only stayed in a hotel their once. We stayed at the WESTIN CHOSUN BEACH HOTEL, (our Son treated us so I have no idea of the price).
THE HOTEL:
The
Hotel is along the beach and away from the noise of the traffic. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden on 3 sides and the beach on the other.
THE LOBBY:
When we drove up to the Hotel it did not seem very large, (it has about 350 rooms), but the lobby was huge. Our Son belongs to a Hilton Club so he went to a desk to sign in. We were escorted to cozy chairs to wait for him. As I drank the freshly squeezed blend of tropical fruit juices I had a chance to look at the wonderful flower vases, plants and artwork.
OUR ROOM:
We were in our room within five minutes of walking into the hotel. Our suitcases were waiting for us and had been placed on suitcase racks.
I did the look under the bed and run my fingers in the drawers’ routine to check if the room had been cleaned properly. It had and it was kept spotless for the two nights we stayed here.
The room was decorated in various colors of gold. It was air conditioned and had a work desk with a computer outlet, a TV, lots of closet space & drawers, an in the closet safe, telephone, mini bar and two soft chairs and a table.
THE BATHROOM:
I loved the bathroom because it had a separate bath and shower stall. It was decorated in gold tiles. There was a hair drier, high quality amenities and a large vanity table.
THE FACILITIES:
In the Health Club there is an indoor swimming pool, massage rooms, sauna and sun tanning chairs. I laughed when I saw the chairs lined up along the large glass windows. I thought that it was not possible to suntan through glass. Well I was wrong and got a lovely tan.
I only bought a newspaper in the Souvenir Store. We didnt use the Business Center, Barber Shop or Hairdressers.
WHERE WE ATE:
The only time we ate out, (during our two days here), was at Benningtons at lunch time. When we were here before it was Fathers Day and we drove here from Taegu to have brunch and the buffet at the Hilton Hotel.
This time we ate our breakfast at the Western Restraurant buffet ate at the Japanese Restaurant one night and the Irish Pub the other night.
WHAT WE SAW:
The staff was kind enough to mark a map to show us how to find the small Korean War Cemetery. I have a friend buried there.
We went to the Russian Market to buy my Husband a Leather Jacket. I felt very uneasy here and would only recommend visiting here during the day.
The down town markets were more expensive than the open air markets in Taegu so we just browsed through them.
We saw the largest suspension bridge in the world being built, (they were hoping it would be finished for the FIFA Games).
There were a lot of 5 star Hotels around us and we walked through them. That is why I think the WESTIN CHOSUN BEACH HOTEL is the best place to stay in Puson.
Other than that we walked along the beach during the day and sat on it at night and watched a fabulous fire works display.
THE LADYS LOO AND THE AIRPORT:
When we arrived I didnt have to use the faculties but before we boarded or JAL flight for the trip home I though I better. The toilet bowls were covered with the plastic that turned, (for the next person to have a fresh seat).
When I sat down I got the surprise of my life as the birds began to go tweet tweet tweet. After a round of that, (I guess Korean Ladies dont like to hear other peoples tinkles), a voice came on saying, Welcome to South Korean. This would have been funny enough but there were two cleaning ladies in the bathroom and they tweeted along with the birds.
SOME THOUGHTS:
Although Puson is a large Port City not many people speak English here. I did enjoy my few days here and would enjoy spending a few more days at the WESTIN HOTEL.
