Part time jobs are wonderful for several reasons. The first being that you usually have time to devote to other occupations or hobbies while holding down a job that often times pays pretty well when compared to the full time work week.
I have held several part time jobs in my life thus far, and each one has had something wonderful and useful to teach me. Things that I usually end up using again in my life, even though it may not be in the same line of work.
When one is working part time jobs, it gives them more flexibility to learn a wide variety of things. I have held jobs down such as part time auto mechanic, nurses assistance, cook, babysitter, receptionist, file clerk and even computer instructor. All of which have taught me valuable lessons that I have been able to take with me from the job. And, in most cases, the jobs have taught me about what I DID not want to do with my life.
Working part time jobs allows you the freedom to explore these things, however, most places in the USA that offer part time work, do not offer the same benefits to those workers as they offer to the full time people. So you need to watch this, especially if you need to have insurance coverage by your employer.
Look Before You Leap
Before putting in applications for part time work look at what you are interested in. If none are available in that line, look for something that may be associated with what you are thinking of perusing for your future. And, if none of this is available, think of what you can tolerate for up to thirty hours a week. If nothing else the job will teach you strength. But lets hope it does not come to that and in most cases you should be able to find something in or associated to the field that you are thinking of going into.
In Closing
Last but least, if you do find yourself stuck in a part time job that you aren’t happy with, look for another one. After all, you were looking before you got this one, and you’ll eventually be looking again anyway.
