Chivas Regal: the very name conjures up a product fit for connoiseurs and this great Scotch certainly has a fine reputation among knowledgeable whisky drinkers the world over. This premium blend is produced by Chivas Brothers Ltd of Aberdeen at the Strathista distillery which is located at Keith,Scotland and reputed to be the oldest distillery in the Highlands of Scotland.
Visitors can tour the attractive distillery in Keith. It has recently been refurbished and in the Kiln Room and the Dram Room, you can even enjoy a wee dram of Chivas.
This brand has been satisfying lovers of Scotch whisky since production began way back in 1801. The stuff is aged a full twelve years in oak casks and Chivas Regal has an alcohol by volume content (ABV) of 40% and is some 80% proof. I consider it a most pleasant drink whether on the rocks or with a dash of soda. It is exceedingly smooth on the palate and has a hint of sweetness, a sort of honey richness.. Chivas Regal has something of a woody ,lingering, aftertaste, which some may not like too much.
It is very well presented and in the attractive bottle Chivas has a decidely pleasant looking light amber colour and once poured into the glass seems to be just a tad lighter in colour. It has subtle scents rather reminiscent of alcohol, oak and spices.
You will find that Chivas Regal is enormously popular and many pubs stock it. Liquor stores, off licences, and supermarkets give shelf space for this premium brand and a lot of duty free outlets at international airports stock Chivas Regal.
It is certainly one of the best products of its type in the market. This smooth, full bodied, whisky deserves its great popularity.
It is undoubtedly very good and ,after my all time favourite Johnny Walker Red Label, I rate it among the best blended Scotch whiskies. It seems too that I am far from being alone for Chivas Regal has numerous admirers not just in the UK but all over the world. It gets high marks from me !
