First good things about Chirec .
• Academic standard is fairly good.
• They have good & resonably well paid teachers compared to other private schools.
• They are very systematic & organized.
• They have a balance of academic and extra curricular activities.
Now what is not good with Chirec .
• They keep increasing the fees every year by 20 to 50 percent. If you are not a very rich parent, you will find it hard to pay the fees increase every year. All your savings that you are planning for your child's higher education or retirement will go for paying these fees. The management keeps getting filthy rich and parents keep getting poorer. If you already admitted your child, they won't refund the admission fee & donation etc if you want to move your child to another school. In short, Management cannot control their greed.
• About 10 years back, the school campus at Kondapur had proper building for classes and also good amount of play area and courts. Now they have constructed new IB block and few other buildings. The entire campus is filled with buildings and only a small area is left as play area for children.
• The school has almost doubled its admission intake in the past few years, while the campus size remains the same and play area / open area has shrinked by 50% or more.
• Due to high fees, school no longer attracts the brightest students. The number one factor that determines the quality of an educational institution is the quality of students. The IITs and IIMs are the best in India because they attract the brightest and most competitive students. The best students have been priced out from this school due to exorbitant fees. This essentially means that over a period of time standard of students will come down due to lack of competition.
• The school takes fees in two bank accounts, potentially pointing to diversion of funds and tax evasion.
• It is hard to meet director or principal. They are available only to VIP parents.
• The quality of school meals having been going down every year.
• They have kept some of their close friends as parents representative without proper election. This helps them to pass decisions like fees hike, introduction of tablets etc without consulting the parents.
• The school charges different fees to students in the same class based on some criteria, basically aiming at extracting maximum amount from parents. All the students get the same facilities and educational services, but pay vastly different amounts.
• School starts new academic year in March so that they can collect first term fees early and get interest on it. Most of the time first term fees will 70% of yearly fees.
• Management is using the money extracted from parents to build new campuses and get even more richer. A new campus has been built in Gachibowli just a few years back.
In short, Chirec is an average or slightly above average school under extremely greedy management without any social responsibility and ethics.
My strong advise - Do not admit your child to this school unless you are filthy rich or have a lots of black money to spend. In either case, you are in good company!
