Ref to the prayer day organized for mothers where the child performs puja/prayers for mother:
We expect an esteemed institution as yours to encourage children to think, make choices & teach them more than just what sholkas perhaps say. A father and mother today play equal roles in providing life to a child, yet you organize sessions where the child prays to his mother only & a father, who plays the role of and 'upanetA, j~nAndAtA, mantr-dAtA, janmadaH & annaDAtA, is sidelined and completely ignored. A father is the giver of education, giver of knowledge, giver of mantra, giver of birth, giver of food...provides for his home, his wife & his children. He may be important enough to perform the thread ceremony...but as per your school, not important enough to share the same pedestal as the mother.
This is a very limited view of life & world. The person who raises the child is as important, if not more, than the mother who gives birth and brings the child to this world. Please encourage students to think differently & accord equal respect & stature to a father & not encourage age old traditions of only worshiping the mother, while father acts like a spectator. For a child, both should be equal..both play the role of life giver, the role of God.
