Chidya Ghar is story of an old man Kesari Narayan, a man of values and good ideals. He is a retired Teacher who teaches lessons to all his family members at his home. The house is named after his late wife Chidya(Sparrow). All the family members have names which symbolize their peculiar characteristics.
Ghotak(Horse), the elder son of Kesari Narayan(or Babuji as he is popularly called) is always in hurry. His wife Koyal(Cuckoo) enjoys singing and talks in sweet manner.
Gomukh(Cow), the second son is a well behaved person, who is mostly innocent, and gets dragged into problems for no fault of him. Mayuri(Peacock), his wife is always keen on dancing whether she is happy or upset over anything.
Kapi(Monkey), the youngest son usually climbs up a pillar whenever he is frightened like a monkey. His wife Chuhiya(Rat) gets scared easily.
Gadha Prasad(Donkey) is a fool.
Keasari(Lion) Narayan or babuji is a man of courage, strength and character. What Babuji teaches in his class, is what is learnt in the end by all family members through experience.
Many characters which used to be there in the beginning no longer appear: Billo bua, Nagin, Mendhak Prasad.
Recently, new characaters have been added: Girgit Mausi, Deemak Chacha.
The show has entertained the audience well. It has been 4 years since this program started. It's the next most successful program on SAB Tv after Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma.
My whole family loves this program.
